March is finally here. And while you’re waiting for the tulips to sprout along Michigan Avenue, and the daffodils to sprout in Lincoln Park, check out what’s sprouting on the southwest corner of Chicago and State: The pair of skyscrapers known as One Chicago.
Joe Zekas from YoChicago! brings us these images, showing construction progress, as of a couple dozen hours ago. For those of you keeping score at home, Tower A is up to the 9th floor.
The Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture and Goettsch Partners design includes two towers: One 76 stories tall, and the other 49 stories tall. The JDL Development project will bring 800 new homes and a Whole Foods to what was formerly a surface parking lot.
While One Chicago’s web site is currently using the tag line, “The height of living at State and Superior,” it is at least using the address 1 West Chicago Avenue. Maybe the marketers just wanted to work the word “Superior” into their copy somewhere.
