Let’s hope the machines building One Chicago don’t have bad breath, because they’re all up in Bella Luna’s grill.

The photograph above was sent in by Gold Coast Spy Mike. It shows the towering machines construction crews are using to sink caissons into the earth immediately behind the neighborhood pizza joint, like an obnoxious big brother taunting his little sister with “I’m not touching you!” in the back seat during a family vacation road trip.
Word on the street is that since work began, Bella Luna’s kitchen has been shaking harder than a soaked dog at North Avenue Beach. We can empathize, having lived next door to the caisson work for both 340 On the Park, and Aqua. But such are the growing pains of a growing city.
When complete, One Chicago will bring over 800 new homes to the block in two towers. Hopefully some of the new neighbors will stop in for a pie and a glass of wine.
